Leandra Ottman (she/her/hers), originally a North Carolina Native, spent a decade living in SFL and is delighted to call NC home once again. Leandra completed her undergraduate at James Madison University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in international relations, with a Spanish minor in 2015. After her undergraduate years, she went on to serve as an education volunteer in the Peace Corps with her partner. When returning stateside in 2019, Leandra joined Teach for America and pursued a Master’s in Education with Johns Hopkins University.
During that time, Leandra worked as an elementary school teacher in Guilford and Forsyth Counties, sequentially. In 2023, with the birth of her first child, Leandra came to the realization that she was passionate about working with children and adults in a mental health setting and wanted to transition away from classroom teaching. In 2024, Leandra started her Master of
Science in Counselor Education with East Carolina University.
