Mìchelle Wright is a Carolina native, who spent her childhood on her family’s small farm. It was here that she developed an interest in people and how our connection to our communities shapes our life. This interest pushed her toward counseling, as she recognized the importance of spaces that allow people to thrive as their authentic selves with dignity and respect to their being.
A proud graduate of both THE Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina A&T State University, Mìchelle holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition to her counseling education, she also has a background in public health and community health education. This led her to work in rural North Carolina, focusing on bridging gaps in health care and increasing resources for access to mental health care. Aiding communities in navigating systems led to the pivotal process of integrating the value of liberation in her personal and professional life. Michelle believes in unlimited power that exists within each person for change. There is an abundance of wisdom that is often overlooked by our own insecurities or visions of what “good” “successful” or even “happy” looks like - when wisdom tells us that our version of all these things is within us, if only we allow it to emerge.
As a LCMHC, Michelle provides services to people who are seeking support for anxiety, grief, major life transitions, family conflict, and identity. She specializes in incorporating concepts of liberation, social power dynamics, culture, and joy.
Michelle has worked with couples, families, children and individuals across the school system, foster care, and intensive outpatient programs addressing trauma. She uses trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative, and dialectical behavioral therapy to support clients in building internal tools, practice acceptance of their stories.
Alongside her work as a clinician, she has been invested in community and leadership development, emphasizing the abundance of power that exists when we are able to break out of limiting perspectives.
